I am so excited about this banana dessert that we have “kicked up” for kids and adults alike! Now what do we want the most when we put a spoonful of this All-American Comfort Food Dessert in our mouth? The answer is a whole lot of banana, right? I’m always disappointed when all I get is pudding and vanilla wafer. What I am really craving is that banana in the spoonful too.
Now what if the Banana Pudding had a cinnamon rum sauce drizzled over the vanilla cookies at the bottom of the bowl? Oh Yum! This is the part that makes it a Banana(s) Foster Pudding. This is for the adults to dig down to the very bottom, and scoop up. But the remainder is kicked up with loads of chopped banana, so that you get satisfying banana bits in every bite, for young and old alike.
Top this Banana(s) Foster Pudding with some Real homemade whipped cream, and sprinkle it with toasted sliced almonds.
Bananas are so popular with all of us monkeys. (I have also been called a “cookie monster” in my deep dark past, too, but that’s another story). I bet if you took a survey, you would find that this is the first choice banana dessert for all Banana Lovers. We would also vote for Top Sandwich as being Peanut Butter and Banana. Oh, and there is Banana Bread too. (With peanut butter and banana slices in it.) What a group we are!
We recently took this dessert to a family 4th of July get together. When some of the family found out that we were bringing home made banana pudding, they got excited. But later when they ate it and found out it was Banana(s) Foster Pudding with Cinnamon Rum Sauce on the bottom, then they really exclaimed over it. They told us how delicious that cinnamon rum sauce was, and it was the best banana pudding they’d ever had!
And asked why didn’t we have that scrumptious cinnamon rum sauce on all the other layers too? We replied that we could have done just that, but this had to be for the kiddos also.
Anyway, we humbly accepted the compliments.
Since then, we have discovered other ways to use the bananas and the pudding. Think about this. How would your family like to wake up to a stack of pancakes with pudding in between each pancake layer, plus a layer of bananas too? Topped with whipped cream, and maple syrup poured over it. (It’s too early in the day for a cinnamon rum sauce…)
Can’t you just hear the sounds of all the big and little monkeys, sounds of delight? What a breakfast treat.
You could even have an elegant Banana(s) Foster Pudding Waffle for an evening dessert with your guests, topped with that same cinnamon rum sauce, or with a cinnamon caramel sauce and ice cream. With a stemmed maraschino cherry sitting on a cloud of real whipped cream at the very top.
I think I will climb down off of my whipped cream cloud now, and go work off these whipped cream calories.
